Like many of you, last week I was shocked out of my mind about the news of the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan – and I continue to be in absolute shock amid concerns about nuclear plants, subsequent tsunami, hundreds of aftershock and the weather there. I found out about the initial mega-quake while perusing Twitter one night and then, of course, tuning into CNN and BBC simultaneously. So, you may remember my guest blog over at Gordonswaby.com where I wrote a Dear John letter to Firefox. If you don’t, the reason I’d written my ‘Dear John’ letter was that Firefox had become bloated/slow/moody and Google’s light-weight alternative, Chrome, had waltzed into my life and swept me away. Yes, you read right…”Dogfood Settings”. I was in the middle of uploading a video for a client and needed to make some adjustments to her account. As per usual, I logged on to the “Account Settings” page and while flipping through some stuff, noticed a very new menu option on the screen. Dogfood settings. Clearly I was stumped and turned to Google to find out WTH I was looking at! I found this: it is merely a prank YouTube has brought upon us. Today, Feb 2, 2011, it is GroundHog Day. Therefore, YouTube decided to play a little prank on us partners by putting a DogFood Settings Tab. Do not worry. The Dogfood tab is useless and does not have any affect. If you click on it, nothing will happen. This tab will be removed after today.
