In this day and age, you may be tempted to think that gender inequality is more or less extinct. It’s not. There are – without a doubt – some places in the world where your life expectancy, chances of education, potential for earnings and likelihood of procreation are compromised because you were born a girl.

As some of you may recall, I did a piece for my blog on Paying it Forward… The response I received both on- and offline was so positive, and so encouraging that it definitely gave me hope as far as my country’s future is concerned. Fast-forward to Tuesday, January 11, 2011. As usual, I was flipping through the news online (I don’t buy papers; I find them clumsy!) and I came across the most AMAZING story in The Jamaica Observer.

I can barely remember my first experiences with search engines, AskJeeves, Lycos, Yahoo and maybe one or two more. I tended to like AskJeeves because of the friendly interface and the ease with which I could navigate through search results.
